Heir Conditioning: Materialistic desires and the viral
decadence of Britain
An exhibition of 'photography' mobilized by the
hypo-critical mind of
Monomarc (TM)
Art should always have something to say, in our opinion
at least, and Monomarc's images tend to say a great deal
in a very understated way. The way he takes an otherwise
innocuous photograph of a scene, three garages in a row
for example, and then superimposes a very subtle
comment/criticism/observation is immensely skillful and
extraordinarily sharp. Anthrax Factory is a provocative
image, obviously his intention. Less is definitely more
in this Artists' work, but with one small word, he has
the ability to condemn a huge swathe of middle England
for being mindless consumerists whilst, at the same time,
offering them a ray of hope- a sign that they are perhaps
not alone? His commentary, or rather criticism, is swift
and powerful, but there seems to be compassion, hope
perhaps, behind the criticism.

"Frequent indicators of
unsatisfied frustration and dismay at human behaviour
ensure the continuation of my work. I am a hypocrite, a
characteristic which I deeply and completely accept.
Exploitation of ignorance and vanity fuel our cultural
decadence. Forgotten pride and traditions that are taken
for granted further distance us from a distinguished
identity. Hard work is better done by others but the
rewards I want for myself. Distortions of cornerstone
morals and principles, diluted spiritual fears and secret
scientific learning. Control and insecurity imposed by
design. The definition of democracy should be upheld
without question but have we ever compared the theory
with practice? Imbalance in justice and punishment with
minority voices louder than the mass. Yet acceptance and
inaction remain so I will continue to comment.
I've got my pride, i've got my teeth whitener
toothpaste."
